Food donation on the rubbish dump

Today Ashin Issariya aka King Zero visited the rubbish dump of Mae Sot to bring some food donations to the people.
About 300 migrants from Burma (which includes around 100 children of all ages) are currently living in dismal conditions on the rubbish dump of Mae Sot, a town on the Thai-Burmese border. The families fled arbitrary arrest, forced labor, rape, and killing by the Burmese military. They arrived at the border of Thailand with hopes of leading a life free of human rights abuses.
They earn a meager income by collecting and re-using plastic and other refuse. But living at the dump site comes with a very serious threat to health and security.
In response, The Best Friend has sought to transform the living conditions for many of the migrant families living at the rubbish dump since 2007. Our main role is to provide basic services to migrants living at the rubbish dump like supply medicine to individuals who cannot go into town for medical treatment and distribute food to families at the dump site. In January 2010 we started a relocation project that is now run by our partner organization Krio Hirundo and Karuna Onlus.
