ကြန္ပ်ဴတာသင္တန္း computer class

computer class

The Best Friend has always been involved in education. In Burma, its members taught languages and other courses. Since we started operating from Thailand in 2008, this has continued. We now provide free education from our library in Mae Sot and we run schools in the surrounding area.

Computer courses form an important part of our free education. Especially for Burmese people – who come from a country with no press freedom, a high censorship of the media and hardly any free access to the internet and ‘real’ news stories – learning how to work with computers and gain access to the Internet is important. The Best Friend helps people with this.

The internet is an opening into the world. It gives people information and helps them develop themselves, gain knowledge, form opinions and find out the truth. Internet = knowledge = freedom.

Due to its success, many of our computer classes are too crowded at the moment. Students have to wait for their turn to use a computer or have to share one. We are currently looking to buy more (secondhand) computers. In Thailand these can be purchased for around € 80 each.

Please help us teach even more students and make a little donation. Your gift will contribute to a little bit more freedom!
