On March 21 the monks Ashin Kovida and Ashin
Sopaka presented the open letter by the ABMA to the German Foreign
Ministry in Berlin.
Present at the meeting were Ko Aung Htoo General Secretary of Burma’s Lawer Council, Aung Thu from Burma Büro Germany, Michael Funk for the German Buddhist Council (DBU), Alexandra Rösch for The Best Friend International. For the German Foreign Ministry Theo Kidess from the Southeast Asia department, Dirk Sanders for the Human rights department and a deputy for the Human rights Ambassador of Germany attended the meeting.
Apart from the open letter we discussed Germany’s position on the
moves to refer Burma’s military leaders to the international criminal
court for investigation into war crimes and crimes against humanity and

At the same time there was a silent protest in front of the Foreign Ministry as a reminder of the ongoing human rights violations in Burma.
